Innovative community service wins Australian Private Hospitals Association Clinical Excellence Award
Thanks to you San Palliative Care in the Home service wins national Clinical Excellence Award
The innovative Palliative Care in the Home service at Sydney Adventist Hospital was last night named winner of the Clinical Excellence Award – quality of care and patient outcomes category – by Australian Private Hospitals Association (APHA).
This service is only possible because of your generosity as it receives no funding from private health insurers or government. San patients have access to specialist palliative care nurses who manage complex care needs, operate an around-the-clock advice line and visit patients in their homes seven days a week.
Award judges were very impressed with the service and results, with one suggesting ‘this initiative could become a national demonstration site’ according to APHA CEO Michael Roff.
“We are immensely proud of the dedicated Palliative Care Team at the San and the comfort they provide for our patients and their families through their end of life care” said Karen Gair, Managing Director of San Foundation. “We are very grateful for the incredible generosity of San Foundation supporters, and particularly to the Charles Warman Foundation whose generosity is the backbone of this service, which has allowed us to fund this much needed service to the community over the last three years.”
