Hello, I'm Caroline, a 57-year-old Executive Assistant to the CEO at the San. On December 11, 2023, my GP shared the news that the biopsy from my routine breast screening revealed invasive carcinoma, leaving me shocked and my world shaken. Despite working at the San, where I'm surrounded by exceptional clinicians, it's a reminder that no one is immune to illness. Despite the challenges of treatment, I feel secure in the care and expertise of the San's outstanding medical team. Grateful that my cancer was detected early, courtesy of San Radiology's breast team, I acknowledge the support from family, friends, and colleagues, emphasizing that not everyone has such resources. I'm urging you to consider contributing to breast cancer research, particularly the DENETTE Study led by A/Prof Nicholas Ngui, exploring alternatives to surgery for the frail or ineligible. Any surplus funds will bolster the main breast cancer research database. Using my voice as an Executive Assistant, I'm breaking my conservative hairstyle to dye it pink, courtesy of "Hair at the San," to raise awareness and funds. Your generosity will make a difference for those without a voice. Thank you for your support, from the bottom of my heart and on behalf of those benefiting from your kindness.
