Emergency Department Retina Scanner

San Emergency team receives much-needed retina scanner thanks to Infectious Clothing Ltd

San Emergency had a long-term need for retina scanning technology to help diagnose and treat patients who present with eye injuries or disease.

The team at Infectious Clothing Ltd stepped up and donated to San Foundation to help support San Emergency.

The retina scanner is small, portable and easy to use for nurses and doctors. High resolution images of the retina can be viewed, saved or sent directly to specialists.

“This retina scanner will allow ED staff to collaborate more quickly with specialists through image sharing and improve waiting times.

It will greatly improve our care of patients with critical eye conditions and injuries. Patients can be diagnosed and treated far more easily and quickly and because the scanner is portable patients don’t need to be moved unnecessarily. We see a steady stream of patients needing specialist eye treatment and this scanner will enable us to provide the same level of care as a specialty eye hospital.“
