San Coronary Care patients Olive & Brian O'Kane donated to San Foundation to fund the purchase of the new machine
Rebecca Dinn, NUM of the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) was delighted to receive a new AccuVein device last week, kindly donated by grateful patients Olive and Brian O'Kane through San Foundation.
Both Olive and Brian have been treated in CCU, on one occasion at the same time, and were extremely grateful for the care and support they received from staff. They had previously seen an AccuVein device used in the San's Day Infusion and generously donated to San Foundation to purchase a machine for the CCU ward.
The non-contact vein illumination device shows a map of veins and valves to guide staff in cannula placement. CCU NUM Rebecca Dinn said "The AccuVein machine is a tremendous help for us in CCU as it makes cannulation so much easier and quicker for patients. We put it to use straight away and the staff absolutely love being able to use it."
Karen Gair, Managing Director of San Foundation, thanked the O'Kane's for their kindness. "San Foundation is very grateful to Olive and Brian for this generous donation of much-needed equipment. Their desire to help others and to give back to the Hospital will benefit so many more patients in the future."
